Hi! I’m Nalini Asha Biggs, and I'm an artist and designer living in beautiful Fallbrook, CA with my partner Travis and our adorable offspring Sage.
My pronouns are they/them. I'm [radically] indigenous, #actuallyautistic / #neuroqueer, and abolitionist. My artistic practices are fully infused with these intersectionalities and I give preference to collaborations that celebrate neurodiversity, re/indigenization, ecological justice, and anti-racism, queer joy, and all things Drag.
My preferred mediums (at present) are gouache + acrylic and pen + India ink but I also use oils, watercolor, pastels, print-making, polymer clay, ceramics, stone carving, wood burning…. you get it. When I have an idea, I match it to the ideal medium whether or not I have the skill yet. Then I learn to master it!
Nature is where it all comes from. I grow native California plants in my butterfly garden giving me the opportunity to paint from life. The colors are what matters most and so you will find that every color I use is true to life.
My narratives are told through hues. I have social, even emotional relationships with colors. Every epoch of my life has a palette through which I was experiencing the world. I have color crushes, complicated tensions, even trauma with colors.
What started as a doctoral thesis on Autistic phenomenology of color evolved into my Spectrum series and from there my Biogoth line of surface patterns. Most recently I have explored my indigenous roots through my California Love collection which celebrates California native flora and fauna using a mid-century modern aesthetic.
Every October I am a professional pumpkin carver and I enjoy making content about my process. I no longer take pumpkin commissions but you can find me carving live at the Fallbrook Pumpkin Patch.
My upcoming projects are truly thrilling and I can’t wait to share more. If you want updates on new projects, products and prints (including special discounts on Etsy), new collections, and upcoming events please sign up for my newsletter.
